I grew up on the flower show circuit helping my mum on her RHS floral exhibits. When I worked on her stand at RHS Chelsea Flower show, I used to go in at 6.30am, before the gates opened to have an explore of the show ground. The Pincushion Protea, Leucospermum cordifolium, I found on the South African exhibit and was transfixed by the shape and colour of the flower.

Part of my series of small botanical studies, Pincushion Protea is a 13 colour screenprint, individually hand registered and printed by me. Printing onto dark matt Colorplan card allows the layers of ink to shine against the surface, creating a beautiful depth of colour.
